George Frederic Handel (February 23rd 1685 - April 14th 1759) was a German/British Baroque composer who was a leading composer of concerti grossi, operas and oratoria. Born in Germany as Georg Friedrich Händel he lived most of his adult life in England, becoming a subject of the British crown on 22nd of January 1727.
Handel’s most famous piece is the ‘Messiah’, an oratorio set to texts from the King James Bible (an excerp t of it is played by the chimes of the Houses of Parliament in London).
