Ruth has directed and conducted the choir since 1995. She is a well-qualified musician with extensive experience in singing, performing, conducting, lecturing, teaching and training.
An acclaimed mezzo-soprano, Ruth has enjoyed many career highlights. She sang with Covent Garden and the Glyndbourne Festival Opera for several years. Ruth was the principal mezzo-soprano for the State Opera of South Australia and, as a soloist for the ABC, sang oratorios on tours to all major Australian cities.
Also an experienced singing teacher, she has taught at a number of major educational facilities, including ten years at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Ruth has facilitated numerous vocal workshops for both amateur and professional singers, being a skilled programmer and a respected music critic. She also specialises in choral work for people with special needs.

It is great to see the choir relishing this challenging and enriching music. What a year ahead with our Mozart Requiem also to look forward to later on….our choir is growing in number and in youthfulness and seems vibrantly alive…a joyful group of music-makers that warm my heart.
