Marie Nicholson, the choir's accompanist and repetiteur since the early 1990s, brings to the Gold Coast City Choir a lifetime's experience of piano playing and working with singers and instrumentalists.
After studying piano and gaining her LMusA, she learnt the art of accompaniment when working and performing with Henri Penn, the brilliant pianist and accompanist for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. While her family was growing, Marie accompanied choirs, performers and musicials throughout country New South Wales. On moving to the Gold Coast, she worked for many years as an accompanist at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
With her children now grown up, Marie is in high demand throughout South East Queensland for her piano accompanying skills for music exams, performances, eisteddfods, and stage productions, and is the accompanist and repetiteur for the many successful stage productions presented by the Gold Coast Arts Centre.
